There has been quite a bit of debate regarding whether or not Honest Co. is cruelty-free. So, recently, I sent them an email and asked them about their testing status and if they offer any vegan options.

Here is the very exuberant response I received:

Hi there!

Thanks so much for reaching out, and for your support! We are a cruelty free company, which means we do zero animal testing on our products/ingredients. We are certified by PETA and you should see the pink bunny logo on each product page (go to honest.com, pick an item, and scroll down to ‘details and ingredients’ to view certifications).

As for vegan, the vast majority of our products are vegan, and those are noted in the same area of the product’s page. However, not all of our products are vegan. Currently our balms are non-vegan due to the presence of beeswax. Some of our vegan customers are comfortable with this ingredient, while some aren’t.

Our supplements are not vegan at this time. Our DHA contains fish oil, and our other supplements contain vitamin D3, aka cholecalciferol. This vitamin is derived from lanolin, which is an oil found in sheep wool. Again, some of our vegan customers don’t mind this ingredient while others avoid it.

As for our new Honest Beauty line, most of the products are vegan, but some contain beeswax, lactoperoxidase (an enzyme from milk), and some use carmine (a pigment from insects) for coloring.

I hope this information helps! Please let us know if you have any other questions, and enjoy the rest of your evening!

The Honest Company

…And here they are featured on PETA’s site as a certified CF brand!

NOW ON TO THE FUN STUFF.

Everything SPF tinted moisturizer in SPF20

Let’s start with the stunning packaging. This line has a very clean cut look that is vanity top worthy.

Eyeshadow Trio

Beautiful nudes, neutrals and natural shades, great for all skin tones and styles.

Luminizing Powder

Helping you get that faux glow in one easy sweep.

The only ingredients in the line I was told are NOT vegan currently are;  beeswax, lactoperoxidase and carmine. I was informed that as more products come out this may change, but I also inquired about having a vegan section added to the site or having a vegan list come out that gets updated. They forwarded my requests and I will update soon.

Be certain to check the products for those ingredients before buying them and let us know what you think of the new line!

What is your favorite NEW cruelty-free line?
