Looking to get away for the holidays?

These 5 cities are my favorite destinations, not only for sightseeing, but also for delicious vegan treats. When you travel, your taste buds should always take a journey, too!

5. London

London has this incredible talent of constantly evolving, yet keeping to traditions. Somewhere between visiting the Big Ben and Buckingham Palace, make your way to Cookies and Scream, an entirely vegan (and gluten-free) bakery that boasts cookies, ice cream sandwiches, pies, donuts and brownies.

Best of all, while you’re touring London’s dozens of other vegetarian restaurants, you’ll be able to enjoy your veggies served by a guy with a sexy British accent.

4. Chennai, India

Spice up your holidays and fly off to India!

National Geographic recently ranked Chennai second in its list of Top 10 Food Cities. Since India also has the highest percentage of vegetarians in the world (with over 30 percent), many are egg and dairy-free as well. Chennai should be heaven for vegans. Go for the street food: idli, dosa, idiyappam, mouth-watering chutneys, and much more.

3. New York City

Everyone is talking about By CHLOE, which opened its doors this past July in the West Village.

This is a no-brainer. Maybe I’m a little biased because I call New York home, but the Big Apple is the perfect destination any time of year. Whether you’re vegan, three-legged, or purple-skinned, New York City has something for everyone. By CHLOE, Beyond Sushi, Hangawi, Dirt Candy are some of the MUST VISIT places for dining… the list goes on and on.

2. Berlin

Culinary magazine, Saveur, named Berlin the vegetarian capital of the world this past September. Rebuilding itself from the devastation of World War II and the Cold War, Berlin has a tangible atmosphere of independence, individuality and revival.

Berlin is by far the most vegan-friendly city I have personally visited in Europe, and this young and artsy city expresses itself through vibrant street art, so you won’t be disappointed while walking around.

1. Tel Aviv

With five percent of its population vegan, Israel is the most vegan nation per capita in the world!

Falafel, considered to be Israel’s national dish, is completely vegan. Picture this: deep fried chickpea balls, stuffed in a warm pita bread pocket and garnished with Israeli salad, cabbage, hummus and tahini… my mouth is watering just thinking about it! And while you’re there, don’t skip out on Nanuchka, the best vegan restaurant in the world, according to HappyCow.net.
