If you are still to be convinced cruelty-free is easy to accomplish– and not more costly than regular animal-tested products, let’s dig a little deeper.
The Truth.
I love beauty products, and there are products I feel I’d be lost without. I feel you. But for every insanely cruelly-tested animal product you own, you aren’t only saying “I am okay with this,” but there are at least ten other, just as effective, cruelty-free products you could buy!
Being informed and giving a crap is sexy.
I used to work in “the industry”- the one where tested animal products are turned out by the ton and sold even faster. The one where they push to get people hooked on these products so you buy more and recommend them to others. I know, I know, this is getting a little dark, but it’s true. These poor little innocent babies don’t deserve a life of pain, stress, fear and chemical induced cancers, diseases and death. If you are beauty obsessed and passionate, you owe it to them –and yourself– to check what’s really going on.
So, with the in mind, let’s talk hair. Affordable and cruelty-free hair!
Regardless of your hair type, length, texture, or need, there are cruelty-free lines carrying exactly what your locks desire.
Shea Moisture at Target.
Shea Moisture’s Jamaican Black Castor shampoo is what hair dreams are made of. It helps curly or dehydrated hair grab onto moisture so you can more easily detangle all those frustrating knots (God help me, I want to cut it all off sometimes). It helps stimulate growth and control breakage because (you know as well as I do) you tear through that hair and rip it when you know you shouldn’t. We all make mistakes- now is the time to love your hair and stop treating it so terribly.
Their Intensive Hydration Hair Masque steals the show, though. It shoves moisture and nutrients into your hair and rinses buttery soft. It’s definitely the start of a good hair day.
Also try…
Giovanni’s 2chic Ultra Moist Super Potion is the bomb with heat protection and shine. Before running that flat or curling iron through your dry frizzy ends, take a second to think back to all the time you just took to make it shine. You shampooed, you conditioned, you detangled. Don’t ruin it by sucking out the moisture because you were too lazy to use protection! Pump a little of this puppy into your hands, rub rub rub, and apply to your ends throughout your thirsty hair. THEN, and only then, do I give you permission to run that hot iron through there. What you get is less frizz, less fly-aways and totally touchable hair. I have grabbed it at Target and Whole foods before.
BWC at Walmart.![BWC Rosemary Mint]()
Oily haired? Terrified of moisture masques and hydrating shampoos? Walmart has the Beauty Without Cruelty (or, BWC) Rosemary Tea Tree shampoo. It’s tingly fresh (just don’t let it rinse down your booty crack) and it feels uber refreshing and squeaky clean.
Oral Hygiene at Walgreens.
Nature’s Gate is amazing, and they are all over the freakin’ place. I have found them at almost every damn store I step foot into. They have a full line of hair and body care, and even oral care. There toothpaste comes in a gel, as well as a paste. I love the gel. It’s around $4, which is what I found for other toothpaste’s that DO test. (No beagles had to eat this for it to be on the shelves, btw.)
Mouth wash is super important to keeping your dragon breath at bay. Why not try out some orange zest mouthwash with some more natural ingredients? The Natural Dentist line carries toothpaste and mouth rinse. Did I mention it’s cruelty-free?
